UMR is a coalition of industry, academic and association partners working to bolster federal investment in biomedical research through the National Institutes of Health. In addition to traditional lobbying of Congress, EFB is responsible for strategic communications, branding, advertising and original content development for UMR. Our work has helped to significantly raise awareness of the organization with stakeholders at NIH, the White House and on the Hill. UMR’s signature communications product, the Amazing Things Podcast, is an EFB production that is now in its fourth year.
AmerisourceBergen Corporation (ABC) is an American drug wholesale company that provides drug distribution and related services designed to reduce costs and improve patient outcomes. ABC initially engaged our team to help them respond to negative press coverage from the Washington Post and 60 Minutes on opioid abuse and the role played by drug distributors. We continue to assist them on a range of issues, including compounding and efforts by the Trump Administration to cut costs. We provide general strategic advice to the company when it comes to communications strategy and we help them to develop relationships with policy makers and their staffs.
Nektar Therapeutics is an American biopharmaceutical company based in San Francisco, California. The company develops new drug candidates by applying its proprietary PEGylation and advanced polymer conjugate technologies to modify chemical structure of substances. They engaged our team to help communicate on novel non-addictive analgesic drug candidates designed to provide an alternative to opioids. We communicated directly to policymakers and their staffs, think tanks, healthcare media reporters, and editors to educate them on the promise of these new drug candidates and the regulatory barriers that needed to be overcome to bring them to market.
TSC is a coalition of top-tier research universities across America advocating for increased federal funding for basic scientific research. Our team developed and executed digital, social, and paid/earned media campaigns for TSC and its 60 member universities. Our work provided the personalized, state/university specific storytelling that made TSC’s traditional lobbying activities so effective.
BIO turned to our team for help in making the case for congressional reauthorization of the Therapeutic Discovery Project (TDP). The tax credit program supported small businesses working on new therapies to treat areas of unmet medical need and significantly advancing the goal of curing cancer within 30 years. As PR for GR, our goal was to help the lobbyists provide meaningful, compelling, and resonant human stories to lawmakers. We created an original video series that combined patient and research stories to demonstrate exactly how the tax credit was support leading edge science and saving lives.
NFCR is a 501(c)(3) charity organization with a long history of providing early-stage funding for high risk/high reward basic scientific cancer research. They turned to us for help on strategy and tactics in refreshing their brand, telling their story and connecting with leaders in Congress. Over a three year period we helped NFCR achieve their goals, improve their Charity Navigator status and improve their fundraising. Demonstrating how each dollar donated impacts scientists in the laboratory is a critical component of fundraising.
